Selling a home with solar panels

We believe that purchasing solar panels isn't advisable if you plan to sell your home within the next ten years. They tend to offer minimal, if any, added value to the property. Be cautious of claims made by solar panel salespeople. We've encountered numerous homes with solar panels, and unless they are fully owned, selling can be challenging. Typically, buyers must either take over the lease or you'll need to settle the balance at closing.

Often, sellers of homes with solar panels set their asking price too high to recover their costs, which rarely succeeds.

If you own a home with leased solar panels, it's essential to contact the leasing company to understand how to terminate the lease. You will likely need to either pay off the lease with the sale proceeds or have the buyer assume it. It’s important to clarify these details and communicate them thoroughly to potential buyers.
